Assist the Outlet Supervisor with daily operations. Responsible for store operations in the absence of the Outlet Supervisor. Perform duties of Outlet Sales Associate.
Oversee basic Outlet operations in the absence of the Outlet Supervisor (including making daily bank deposits), ensuring Outlet staff deliver customer service according to defined procedures.
Provide guidance to staff on sales questions or issues; inform Outlet Supervisor or designee of personnel-related problems.
Organize the store by stocking and placing merchandise.
Maintain a neat, clean, and safe working and shopping environment by following good housekeeping practices.
Assist customers:
a) by helping them find merchandise and/or
b) by carrying their paid merchandise to their vehicles (does not include loading items into customers’ vehicles).
c) by reporting any problems/complaint to the Outlet Supervisor
Remove/sort unsold merchandise for recycling/disposal, as appropriate.
Perform opening and closing procedures as required.
Perform cashier duties as requested.
Greet customers entering the outlet and thank them as they leave.
Completion of forklift certification within 90 days of hire/placement.
Basic math ability.
Familiarity with electronic cash registers (this may be learned on-the-job).
Familiarity with Company and Retail policies and procedures (this may be learned on-the-job).
Familiarity with Goodwill Central Coast’s mission, Company and retail policies (this can be learned on-the-job).
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Ability to communicate in basic Spanish preferred.
Ability to instruct new employees, as directed, in operational procedures.
Ability to make decisions quickly and with confidence.
Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
Ability to maintain a strong sales presence demonstrating a high energy and enthusiastic work ethic that can be reflected in overall Outlet sales, cooperation with others and employee morale.
Ability to learn and accurately perform opening/closing procedures, cash register operation, bank deposit procedures and related paperwork as it pertains to store operations; and as needed, supervise cash register function.
Ability to drive forklift. This requires passing forklift training and obtaining forklift certification within 90 days of placement in the position.
Ability to price merchandise at fair market value.
Ability to coordinate eye/hand/foot movements to safely move in around fixtures and merchandise.
Ability to move hands and fingers quickly to operate cash register and handle merchandise.
Ability to make judgments and decisions and communicate these clearly based on established policies.
Ability to demonstrate satisfactory attendance as outlined in Company policy.
Ability to adhere to safe work practices as documented in Company safety policies; ability to report safety hazards/accidents promptly to supervisor or safety committee member.
