About The Position

This seasonal Tennis Instructor position is a great way to learn new skills, while teaching a fun, lifelong sport! Classes and camps run the beginning of June through the beginning of August and can range from 10-35 hours a week. We hope you’ll join our team! The Arlington Heights Park District (AHPD) is a public park and recreation agency located in Arlington Heights, Illinois—one of the largest communities in Chicago's prestigious northwest suburban corridor. Requirements

Minimum age of 15 is required
High school student, high school graduate or G.E.D. preferred
Minimum of one to two years’ experience teaching tennis or playing competitive tennis
Or, any equivalent combination of education, experience and training
CPR (Child and Adult), AED and First Aid Certification required within 30 days of employment; CPR, AED and First Aid Certification preferred

Responsibilities

Implements tennis lessons as designated by the Assistant Tennis Club Manager
Selects and explains appropriate tennis drills for the size and ability level of each class and demonstrates the appropriate drills and strokes during class
Accurately “feeds” and retrieves tennis balls during and after the lessons both on and outside the courts
Upholds the quality of instruction while maintaining control of the class
Takes attendance prior to the start of each lesson and refers participants who are not on a class list to the desk staff
Maintains a good working relationship with lesson participants at all times
Attends work on a regular basis
Performs the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work and safety rules, and the employee handbook
