About The Position

The Outdoor Science School (“OSS”) First Aid Technician assists, reports to and supports the OSS Health Supervisor with all health needs of OSS participants and staff in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values. The Outdoor Science School (“OSS”) First Aid Technician is a Ministerial Support position. Ministerial Support staff serve in operational and service support roles and are not required to personally affirm Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision and beliefs. However, it is expected that staff who fill these roles – no matter their personal beliefs - respect, work in harmony with, and not undermine MHA’s Christian mission, vision and beliefs. Additionally, they are required to abide by MHA’s culture code and standards of conduct. All staff are expected to join gatherings, which includes prayer, worship, and Bible-centered teaching.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Current Red Cross or American Heart Association Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED, including the care of infants, children, and adults.
  • Ability to work with a team using good judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Must be a punctual and responsible individual.
  • Must exhibit great interpersonal skills with people of all ages.
  • Must be observant and attentive.
  • Mature understanding and respect for authority and peers, as well as camp guidelines and principles.
  • Ability to engage in active listening.
  • Ability to engage in a variety of outdoor activities.
  • A heart to serve whenever needed.
  • Ability to lead and teach with patience and clear instruction.
  • Must agree to and comply with MHA’s employee driving guidelines for MHA-owned vehicles and personal vehicles for business purposes.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • College or university course work in preventative health practice, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology are preferred.
  • Experience (work or volunteer) working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and stock the Redwood Camp First Aid Center.
  • Under the direction of the Healthcare Services Director facilitate the storage, handling and dosing of medication in compliance with MHA’s Medication Policy and Procedures.
  • Assist with transportation of campers or staff to urgent care, hospital emergency room or Doctors on Duty using MHA’s “2-Person Policy.”
  • Check / document AEDs weekly.
  • Document each campers or parents’ clinical encounters in Camp Health Log.
  • With Health Supervisor’s oversight, complete and distribute Employee or Volunteer Incident Report, referral form and Workers’ Compensation Packet or Guest Incident Report and Campers’ insurance information.
  • Engage and participate in staff development and one-to-one meetings with the commitment to being engaged in the MHA OSS community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
