About The Position

This role will be located at Silo Ridge Field Club in Amenia, New York, and is a Part-time, Seasonal Outdoor Activity Guide position within the Outdoor Pursuits Department. The position is available from May 1 – November 30, 2026. Reporting to the Silo Ridge Director of Vibe, the Outdoor Activity Guide is responsible for professional wildlife management work of average difficulty, implementing wildlife management practices in a moderate-sized wildlife area or facility. The role involves creating memorable Discovery Land Company experiences for members and fellow employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university in wildlife or fisheries management, wildlife biology, or other related acceptable field. OR A minimum of five years of full-time working experience as a Hunting Guide/Fishing Guide.
  • Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age on the date of application.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Possess a valid and current motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of activities associated with the management of wildlife.
  • Wildlife habitat development and maintenance.
  • Hunting and fishing, shooting activities, facilities and equipment maintenance.
  • Schedules and guides hunts, fishing excursions, archery and 3D target shooting, and paintball.
  • Birding, foraging, biking and hiking with members and guests.
  • Assist in the operation of the Dog Kennel, walking, training, feeding and stall maintenance.
  • Leads in the maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings.
  • Plans, conducts and evaluates on-the-job training, to include training with equipment, policies, procedures, and techniques, for assigned subordinates as required.
  • Promotes, teaches, and/or assists with hunting and fishing safety education programs.
  • Promotes or provides hunter safety training.
  • Coordinates plans and activities such as shooting, target shooting, archery, paintball, renting of ATV’s, and UTV’s.
  • Monitors wildlife populations and assess the impacts of forest operations on population and habitats.
  • Perform upkeep on trails in and out the forest.
  • Manage wildlife fields for hunting, food plots and brooding.
  • Develop area to keep, raise birds (pheasant +).
  • Make memories.
