About The Position

Join the Discovery family, where quality and service are at the heart of everything we do! This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: “Silo Ridge Field Club”, set in beautiful Amenia, New York. Silo Ridge Field Club is seeking an Outdoor Activity Leader to join our Outdoor Pursuits Department. This is a seasonal role that will be available May 18 – September 8, 2026. The Outdoor Activity Leader plays a key role in delivering the exceptional member experience Silo Ridge is known for. This position ensures the highest level of service and hospitality while leading, supervising, and supporting outdoor recreation activities and recreation areas across the property. This is a hands-on, high-energy role that includes organizing and facilitating activities, providing instruction and guidance to members, and encouraging participation to create fun, welcoming, and memorable experiences. In this role, you will help bring the Discovery Land Company lifestyle to life for our members and fellow employees.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in hospitality, recreation, camps, coaching, or guest service
  • Naturally outgoing, friendly, and confident interacting with people.
  • Passionate about the outdoors, sports, activities, and recreation.
  • Comfortable leading groups and being part of the action.
  • Excited to work with families and create memorable moments.
  • Responsible, dependable, and team-oriented — a “jump in and help” type.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays (flexible schedule required).
  • Positive attitude and professional, member-first mindset.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused in busy, high-energy environments.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand/move for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with special skills such as music, art, athletics, fishing, or outdoor instruction are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • CPR certification strongly preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Lifeguard certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • On time when starting a shift, prompt with each job assignment.
  • Welcome members and guests with high energy and excellent service.
  • Lead and participate in outdoor activities, games, and sports programming.
  • Assist with special events (tournaments, family events, themed activities, etc.).
  • Engage with kids, teens, and adults — helping everyone feel included.
  • Support members at activity areas (pool, beach, waterfront, games, events).
  • Prepare and organize supplies and set-ups for daily activities.
  • Keep recreation areas stocked, clean, organized, and “member ready”.
  • Assist with towel stations, sunscreen stations, chairs/umbrellas, and activity areas.
  • Support end-of-day closing procedures and daily operations.
  • Follow all safety standards and Outdoor Pursuits SOPs
  • Assist with waterfront operations and on-water activity support
  • Provide safety coverage around the beach/pool/waterfront
  • Support routine safety checks on equipment.
  • Follow the Outdoor Pursuits Standard Operating Procedure at all times.
  • Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with your supervisors and managers.
  • Be an ambassador of the property and DLC at all times on or off property.
  • Maintain adherence to and stay abreast to any changes of the Employee Handbook.
