About The Position

The Out-of-School Time (OST) Coordinator at Orchard View Community Education is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of before- and after-school programs as well as summer learning opportunities. This role ensures compliance with Michigan Out of School Time Standards (MOST) and Michigan Child Care Licensing requirements while creating a safe and engaging environment for youth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, child development, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of two years of experience in child care, education, or youth programming.
  • Familiarity with MOST standards, Michigan Child Care Licensing, and project-based learning methodologies.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications (or willingness to obtain prior to employment).

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage before-school, after-school, and summer programs aligned with MOST standards and Michigan Child Care Licensing regulations.
  • Integrate enriching activities, including STEAM, arts, physical wellness, and social-emotional learning, into programming.
  • Oversee project-based learning initiatives and field trip planning.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise program staff and volunteers.
  • Facilitate and/or seek professional development to ensure staff adhere to quality standards and best practices.
  • Ensure program environments meet all safety and licensing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain emergency procedures and child protection protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about program updates, schedules, and children's progress.
  • Build partnerships with local organizations to enhance program offerings.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, licensing, and grant-related documentation.
  • Monitor and manage program budgets in collaboration with the Early Childhood Director.
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness and report outcomes to OST grantors.
