About The Position

This position supports the delivery of hands-on and technical training related to residential energy efficiency, energy conservation programs, weatherization and diagnostic HVAC technologies for the Oregon Training Institute (OTI), a program of Community Action Partnership of Oregon (CAPO). The Instructor works closely with the Lead Instructor and Training Manager and delivers training under the direction of the Training Manager, supporting high-quality training experience aligned with industry standards and workforce development goals. The Instructor plays a key role in providing instructional delivery across classroom, virtual, and field-based settings, including individual and group training, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, and computer-based learning. This position also contributes to the effective implementation of training programs, certifications, and learning tools that support skill development across the network. In-state travel may be required to support training delivery and program activities across multiple regions.

Requirements

Three (3) years’ experience (combined) in any of the following fields: building trades, weatherization, energy-efficiency, and/or energy conservation
Strong understanding of building science, thermodynamics, and energy conservation principals
Experience delivering on-the-job instruction, demonstrations, or coaching in a field-based or operational setting for weatherization measures
Experience facilitating trainings, workshops, learning sessions in a classroom, virtual, and/or field-based setting
Demonstrated ability to correctly use and calibrate equipment and web-based programs such as combustion analyzers, blower door, duct blaster equipment, infrared cameras, and/or computerized energy modeling
Strong understanding of Oregon Universal Building Codes
Strong written, verbal, and communication skills
Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
Willing to travel statewide (Oregon) and nationally, as needed for position related duties
Valid Driver’s License, current auto insurance, and an insurable driving record.

Nice To Haves

Bi-lingual, Spanish/English preferred
Experience with low-income weatherization programs
Demonstrate established relationships with community-based organizations, state agencies, private sector partners, and individuals to help develop collaborative services
Understanding of OSHA and EPA guidelines concerning hazardous materials to include asbestos, lead-based paint, etc.
Experience with diagnostic HVAC technologies
Holds current Residential Energy Analyst program and BPI certifications and is in good standing
Experience compiling, organizing, and updating information

Responsibilities

Provide instruction for weatherization and energy-related programs in both classroom and field-based settings
Facilitate weatherization and energy-related trainings in collaboration with the Training and Technical Assistance (T&TA) Committee of the Oregon Energy Coordinators and Affiliates (OECA), utilizing a variety of instructional methods
Contribute to the development and implementation of new courses and delivery methods to effectively promote knowledge and skill development for residential energy efficiency programs
Collaborate with program leadership to apply instructional guidance aligned with regulatory and certification requirements and participate in ongoing professional development to support compliant instructional delivery.
Maintain and support updates to a reference library of testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia instructional aids, and laboratory tools and props.
Maintain and update tracking tools and systems used to support training delivery, conference coordination, and participant progress monitoring.
Perform ongoing upkeep of asset and inventory tracking systems that support training delivery and program operations.
Participate in and contribute to annual internal reviews related to safety procedures, curriculum updates, organizational goals, and documentation revision needs.
Support network facilitation and event management for training programs, including coordination with OTI staff and network partners, as directed by the Training Manager.
Provide logistical support for Training and Technical Assistance (T&TA) activities, in collaboration with program needs
Coordinate logistical arrangements for trainings and meetings, including securing trainers, locations, and facilities, as directed by the Training Manager.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to contribute to the development, implementation, and interpretation of compliance requirements associated with program funding and operations.
Produce reports that document training requirements, deliverables, participant activity, and outcomes for internal review and external reporting.
Compile and report training participation, program revisions, and progress toward learning objectives in accordance with program and reporting requirements.
Ensure training data and reporting documentation are accurate, complete, and submitted in accordance with established timelines and reporting requirements.
Participate in planning efforts and represent the Oregon Training Institute (OTI) at statewide and national trade shows, seminars, conferences, and speaking engagements, delivering instructional content as appropriate and in alignment with the Training Manager.
Assist with outreach materials and follow-up communications related to trainings and outreach events.
