About The Position

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is searching for an Engineer to join the Over-the-Air (OTA) Operations Team. The OTA Operations Team oversees the evaluation, validation, operation, and management of OTA software updates concerning Hyundai/Kia/Genesis vehicles of the North American (NA) market. As a result, the OTA Operations Engineer would support North American OTA Operations regarding vehicle software updates and telematics data analyses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in automotive or embedded product development
  • Experience in software development for vehicle electric & electronic systems, telematics systems, controller units, or related products
  • Familiarity with automotive communication protocols and network systems, such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet, and operating data acquisition systems like ETAS/INCA and Vector/CANoe
  • Ability to thrive in an agile work environment with shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field, or a combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Experience in automotive software requirements specifications for in-vehicle network management or OTA system software
  • Understanding of automotive telematics systems, server architecture, and cloud services
  • Experience in automotive telematics data analytics
  • Experience in production software lifecycle(s), including requirements, system design, development, and maintenance of embedded software for vehicle systems
  • Familiarity with classic and adaptive AUTOSAR
  • Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python, Java, C, and C++
  • Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, and DevOps-CI/CD processes and tools

Responsibilities

  • Engage in engineering projects spanning various aspects of OTA systems, ensuring the delivery of robust and reliable software updates for North American production vehicles
  • Conduct pre-production OTA testing and evaluation, along with post-production update validation, field monitoring, and troubleshooting to uphold quality standards
  • Identify root causes of issues, design effective solutions, and collaborate with HQ to implement and deploy them successfully
  • Perform Vehicle Customer Relationship Management (VCRM) data analysis to gain insights into customer needs, and develop dashboards, troubleshooting processes, and tools accordingly
  • Travel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally
