About The Position

Ivy Street School is a small, year-round, private residential special education school committed to advancing equity and access for young people living with disabilities. We serve neurodiverse adolescents ages 13-22. We support the whole child through a student-first model that is driven by collaboration, a willingness to think big, and a commitment to knowing our students well. We believe that every student is exceptional and at Ivy Street, we work tirelessly to create the educational and therapeutic conditions for our students to thrive. As a community, we are focused on the immediate needs of our scholars with an unwavering eye on their future needs and the concrete plans to achieve it. Our multidisciplinary team works to create rich and meaningful experiences that will nurture learning and prepare our students for their transition into adulthood and independent living. While our classrooms have four walls, we consider Boston our second classroom and our students are often making meaning and deepening learning throughout the city. We are currently seeking a forward thinking and collaborative individual to complete a Level II Fieldwork Placement and internship with our occupational therapy department for Winter 2026. This is a full-time role for 40 hours a week for 12 weeks as per ACOTE standards set out by universities. This role is unpaid.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree
Enrolled in a Master’s or Doctorate program in Occupational Therapy and completed necessary coursework to begin LIIFW experience

Nice To Haves

Experience working with transition-aged youth preferred
Experience working with diverse mental health needs preferred
Experience working in a school and/or residential setting preferred

Responsibilities

Observe occupational therapists completing individual and group sessions
Participate in weekly supervision with direct supervisor
Participate in weekly department meetings
Participate in internal meetings to collaborate on students’ care
Collaborate with, interview, and observe other providers within the related services department at Ivy Street including speech language pathologists and physical therapists.
Perform screenings and evaluations to assess students strengths and needs
Participate in IEP meetings and complete IEP progress notes
Support a caseload of 5-8 students based on measurable annual goals in IEPs
Lead classroom-based activities and groups weekly
Support students living in residences in afterschool programming
Support community navigation blocks as needed with assigned classrooms
