About The Position

The Leidos Cyber Accelerator is redefining how we build the methods, technologies and create solutions that scale for operational technology (OT), control systems (ICS), and critical infrastructure. We are seeking a cybersecurity intern to support OT cyber projects. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting unique research & development efforts to prototype development, culminating in deployment of our products and solutions to customers. This role works alongside junior and senior engineers and research scientists with expertise in machine learning, cybersecurity, IT, reverse engineering, and Cyber AI. The successful candidate will have experience in areas such as industrial control systems, cybersecurity, and how application of artificial intelligence (AI) can improve OT industries.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s or Doctorate degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 0+ years of experience.
  • Experience with common cybersecurity concepts, frameworks, and approaches to designing secure systems (NIST, MITRE, CMMC etc.)
  • Experience with some scripting and/or programming languages, tools and techniques (PowerShell, Zsh, python, C++, etc.)
  • Novel understanding of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning technologies and capabilities.
  • Strong, self-motivated, desire to learn the challenges facing Operational Technology environments in applying cybersecurity principles to the unique challenges facing them (up to and including Industrial Control Systems).
  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance - US Citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong familiarity with multiple operating systems including those unique to embedded or other industrial devices (LINUX, Windows IoT, etc.)
  • Knowledge of industrial control system protocols and functions used in at least one major industrial sector.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Assist directly researchers, engineers, and program management with advanced research & development of modern new technologies and capabilities around protecting critical infrastructure sectors.
  • Aid in the continuing operation, expansion, and capabilities of multiple lab environments that replicate key industries.
  • Working independently and/or as a team member to develop documentation and strategy materials to support business development, subject matter experts, and leadership in understanding the unique challenges critical infrastructure faces around cybersecurity and the Leidos capabilities to address them.
