About The Position

Provide assessment expertise to ensure student success and promote an exemplary education program that fosters achievement for all students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
  • Five (5) years of experience conducting special education evaluations.
  • Experience in cross discipline assessment planning.
  • Advanced knowledge of interventions to inform Response to Intervention (RtI) data decisions required for Specific Learning Disability identification.
  • Advanced knowledge of assessments in discipline-specific areas of motor skills, cognition, social/emotional, communication, academics, or behavior (including adaptive behavior) across all levels and abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of assessments that are racially, culturally, and linguistically unbiased.
  • Advanced parent/guardian interview and student observation skills.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced time management and planning skills.
  • Ability to proficiently use technology.
  • Ability to effectively engage staff, children, and their parents/guardians in the assessment process.
  • Ability to engage in ongoing professional growth, including district professional activities.
  • Demonstrate positive working relationships, including the ability to collaborate with special education teams, students, teachers, staff, parents/guardians, and administrators.
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
  • Valid Colorado Special Education License (SPED Severe Needs Affective/BD, SPED Generalist, or SPED Specialist) OR a valid Colorado School Occupational Therapist License OR a valid Colorado School Speech Language Pathologist License.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial special education evaluations.
  • Write evaluation reports for all initial eligibility meetings.
  • Conduct initial eligibility meetings in conjunction with the building special education team.
  • Confer with school special education teams to develop assessment plans for initial evaluations.
  • Recommend IEP goals based on initial evaluation data.
  • Conduct all private school and summer eligibility and IEP meetings, including annual reviews, reevaluations, and initial evaluations.
  • Coach teams in Response to Intervention (RtI), assessment planning, evaluations, eligibility determination, and goal writing.
  • Assist school teams with reevaluation assessments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
