Moog Military Aircraft Group has an immediate opening for a OSV QA Auditor to support our precision manufacturing and compliance with aerospace standards. In this role, you will perform calibration on electromechanical and hydraulic test stands, as well as preventative maintenance, tests, and calibrations on heat treat furnaces-including vacuum furnaces. Reporting to our site Quality Manager, this on-site position is at our aerospace plant in Torrance, CA. Requirements

  • Two year technical degree, a technical trade school diploma, military certification or American Society for Quality Certificate as a Certified Calibration Technician
  • The equivalent of 3 or more years of direct experience with calibration would be considered in lieu of formal education or certification
  • 3 years or more working experience with calibration methods and equipment usage necessary to meet industry, customer and specifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining up-to-date records and a recall system for calibration and maintenance actions on lab-related equipment.
  • Interfacing with customer and government representatives during audits of Moog's calibration systems, and collaborating daily with engineers, supervisors, and managers on calibration issues.
  • Instructing, guiding, and developing methods for proper usage and adherence to calibration procedures.
  • Calibrating mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic measurement equipment to manufacturer and industry calibration specifications.
  • Performing SAT (System Accuracy Tests) and TUS (Temperature Uniformity Surveys) on heat treat furnaces, ensuring compliance with AMS2750 and other aerospace standards.
  • Applying strong knowledge of vacuum heat treat operations, including system functionality, leak detection, and thermal profiling.
  • Working from drawings, purchase orders, customer specifications, MIL specs, manufacturer's instructions, and Moog calibration procedures.
  • Performing electronic/electrical calibrations requiring complex connection configurations, interpreting schematics and documentation to restore equipment to specified parameters.
  • Operating test equipment and systems as part of the calibration process, with familiarity in hydraulic fluids, viscosity, density, and seal solvent compatibility to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Improvising instrument and measuring configurations for special testing, and making routine surface plate setups in inspection or calibration of gauging and fixtures.
  • Working independently or collaboratively to calibrate equipment, often requiring extended periods of visual and mental concentration and physical dexterity. Occasionally working in awkward positions and challenging conditions.
  • Planning work proactively to minimize production downtime, using sound judgment to resolve unusual problems without supervisory assistance
