The position requires advanced splicing expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to guide crews performing aerial, underground, and in‑building fiber work. The Fiber Splicing Supervisor ensures that all work adheres to industry standards, safety protocols, and project requirements while maintaining efficient workflows and supporting successful project delivery.

  • Ability to read and interpret network diagrams, blueprints, and engineering documents.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to work outdoors, at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform single‑mode and ribbon fusion splicing, including butt and lateral splicing, mid‑span cuts, ring cuts, and live‑fiber work.
  • Troubleshoot fiber networks using OTDR, power meters, light sources, and visual fault locators.
  • Install and maintain splice enclosures, cabinets, bulkheads, and distribution panels in both OSP and ISP environments.
  • Read and interpret splice matrices, fiber schematics, construction prints, and cable schedules.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a crew of four technicians, promoting safe and productive work habits.
  • Coordinate daily tasks, workflow sequencing, and resource allocation with project managers and field leadership.
  • Ensure all work meets production goals, quality standards, documentation requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Provide performance coaching, on‑the‑job training, and technical guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Execute installation and routing of innerduct, conduit systems (MaxCell, MicroDuct, etc.), and fiber cable placement in aerial, underground, and data‑center environments.
  • Maintain organized work vehicles, jobsite cleanliness, and inventory of tools, consumables, and test equipment.
  • Conduct fiber acceptance testing, loss‑budget verification, and documentation of test results.
  • Support outage restorations, emergency repairs, and participate in on‑call rotations as needed.
