About The Position

The Orton-Gillingham Reading Specialist position is a part-time role focused on providing specialized reading instruction to students in a school setting. Requirements

• Current Orton-Gillingham Certification in 1:1 Reading Instruction.
• Must hold a current license to practice in the state of NY.
• Successful experience working with culturally diverse families.
• Commitment to ongoing continuing education and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Consult and collaborate with school staff and families regarding students' educational deficits.
• Conduct initial screenings and comprehensive evaluations.
• Participate in the IEP process to develop present levels of performance, goals, objectives, and treatment recommendations for students qualifying for Special Education services.
• Provide Reading Specialist sessions using current best practices based on prescribed services in the IEP.
• Maintain all required documentation, including notes, monthly summaries, and annual IEPs.
