About The Position

St. Paul Academy and Summit School is seeking a full-time Orton-Gillingham Learning Specialist for the Middle School/Upper School, focusing on students with mild to moderate dyslexia and supporting upper school students with executive functioning skills. The role emphasizes innovative and culturally competent learning, requiring a deep understanding of diverse learning needs. The position is integral to the Center for Learning and Teaching, fostering a supportive and engaging environment for students while collaborating with parents and guardians.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
• 3+ years of teaching experience with middle and high school aged students.
• Experience working with students diagnosed with dyslexia, learning disabilities, and/or ADHD.
• Orton-Gillingham Associate level certification or willingness to be trained.
• Strong positive classroom management skills.
• Strong technology skills and knowledge of assistive technology for students.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Gifted Education.
• Experience with reading/writing workshop models.

Responsibilities

• Work with middle school students in Language Arts who have mild to moderate dyslexia.
• Support upper school students with executive functioning skills.
• Establish a supportive and engaging student environment.
