Overview Responsible for a variety of clinical and technical tasks as directed by the Section Manager. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficiency of operations. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelors degree plus certification as an Orthoptist from a recognized Program is necessary to demonstrate the abilities required to competently execute the duties of this position (6 years total education min).
  • No experience necessary.
  • Certified Orthoptist

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient sensory and motor functions, computerized vision therapy and other various orthoptic duties as directed by the physicians.
  • Perform diplopia evaluation, assist in the treatment of amblyopia and convergence insufficiency.
  • Educate patients and families.
  • Performs special ophthalmological services.
  • Prepares and maintains the equipment for these services.
  • Provides supportive patient care.
  • Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficiency of operations.
  • Assist in the education of Ophthalmology Residents and Ophthalmology clinical support staff
  • Assist in the development and execution of research projects for the department.
