About the Practice Atrium Health MSKI Orthopedics & Sports Medicine – CMC is expanding with a new location in Charlotte to support a growing surgical sports medicine program. This practice includes a team of board-certified orthopedic surgeons specializing in surgical sports medicine, supported by a collaborative group of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) dedicated to high-quality, patient-centered musculoskeletal care. By joining AH MSKI at CMC, you become part of an extensive, nationally recognized musculoskeletal network that includes orthopedic surgery subspecialists, non-operative sports medicine physicians, and MSK specialists across the enterprise. Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) is Atrium Health’s flagship academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center, offering comprehensive inpatient and surgical services and serving as a major referral center for complex orthopedic and sports medicine care. Position Overview This opportunity supports a surgical sports medicine physician and involves a combination of clinic and operating room responsibilities, with participation in night and weekend call rotation. The APP will function as an integral member of the care team, supporting patients across the continuum of care in both ambulatory and surgical settings.

Requirements

  • Active North Carolina licensure (Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner)
  • Must possess or be eligible for DEA licensure
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program required
  • NCCPA certification (PA) or national board certification (Acute Care NP) preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Prior orthopedic or sports medicine experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the outpatient clinic and operating room
  • Assist with pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative management
  • Perform patient evaluations, follow-up visits, and care coordination
  • Participate in night and weekend call rotation
  • Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons and the broader MSKI care team
  • Ensure high standards of quality, safety, and patient experience
