Assists the orthopedic physician/PA with patient care, including casting, splinting, care of casts/splints/external fixators, and inpatient intake, rooming, charting/documentation, etc. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations Operates according to all policies and procedures, demonstrating competency and knowledge of the clinic environment Assist the physician with procedures; anticipate the physician’s needs and procure appropriate supplies before the start of the procedure. Maintains orderly and appropriately stocked treatment area and exam rooms Assists with putting away supplies and room turnover Applies orthopedic devices (i.e., casts, splints, braces) to patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric. Accepts responsibilities only within the scope of practice Answers phone messages and returns patient calls during the same business day Obtains patient history and prep physician as requested Performs removal of sutures or staples; changes dressings; schedules tests Logs nurse notes and medication refills in patient charts Assists with appropriately managing patient flow Collects documentation for surgery, orders, consents, etc. Prepare surgery charts for the doctor and charts for the clinic, scan patient records Process DME applications if the DME Coordinator is not available Keeps current with new techniques and equipment through participation in continuing education Performs other duties as assigned
