Orthopedic Institute is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Spine Surgeon. As a Spine Surgeon at our institute, you will have the opportunity to utilize your expertise and training to provide exceptional care to patients with spine conditions. Orthopedic Institute (OI) is a leading independent, physician-owned orthopedic and sports medicine group serving South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa from a new, nearly 80,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility in Tea, SD, opened in February 2025. The practice includes 20+ physicians and a large multidisciplinary team dedicated to transforming lives through exceptional orthopedic care in a modern, patient-centered setting. OI offers comprehensive musculoskeletal services under one roof, including subspecialty orthopedics, interventional pain management, on-site advanced imaging (X-ray, ultrasound, MRI), and physical and occupational therapy. Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Residency training in Orthopedic Surgery
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Spine Fellowship
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified
  • Eligible for South Dakota medical license and DEA registration
  • Strong clinical judgment, patient-centered communication, and interest in physician ownership and leadership

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patients with degenerative, traumatic, and complex spinal disorders
  • Provide comprehensive non-operative and operative spine care
  • Perform spine surgery at our specialty hospital, including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar procedures consistent with fellowship training
  • Participate in shared call coverage as required
  • Collaborate closely with APPs, anesthesia, nursing, rehabilitation, and referring physicians
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the EMR
  • Participate in program development, quality initiatives, and growth of the spine service line
