About The Position

We are a private practice group committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based medical care to our community. As part of our continued growth, we are expanding the services available at our Longmeadow location to include dedicated orthopedic coverage. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, patient-centered practice and play a foundational role in building an orthopedic service line with the intention of growing coverage over time. We are seeking an experienced, self-directed Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner to provide part-time orthopedic care at our Longmeadow office. This position is currently structured as one afternoon per week, approximately 3 to 4 hours, with the expectation of expanded coverage as the service line grows. The ideal candidate is a seasoned orthopedic clinician who is comfortable working independently, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and brings a strong foundation in non-operative musculoskeletal care. There is potential for additional weekly compensation for ad hoc consultations if desired. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced orthopedic NP who is looking for a flexible, part-time commitment with the ability to be the foundational provider and to help build this service line.

Requirements

  • Active Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner license in good standing
  • Minimum of 5 years of orthopedic clinical experience, with demonstrated competency in non-operative musculoskeletal care
  • Experience managing orthopedic presentations in both adult and pediatric populations
  • Proficiency in casting and splinting techniques
  • Demonstrated experience performing ultrasound-guided injections and joint aspirations.
  • Ability to practice independently with a high degree of clinical confidence and sound judgment
  • Active DEA registration and appropriate Massachusetts prescriptive authority
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records
  • Prior experience in an outpatient or urgent care orthopedic setting
  • Familiarity with point-of-care ultrasound for diagnostic and procedural use
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university; Completion of Nurse Practitioner program required
  • Licensed as an APRN
  • Active Massachusetts controlled substance registration and DEA registration required. Prescriptive authority must be in good standing in accordance with Massachusetts collaborative practice requirements for nurse practitioners
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good bedside manner, emotional stability, and ability to make sound decisions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent patient relationship skills

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage acute, subacute, and chronic non-operative orthopedic injuries including fractures, sprains, strains, tendinopathies, bursitis, and joint injuries
  • Perform and interpret musculoskeletal X-rays relevant to orthopedic presentations
  • Apply and manage casts and splints for appropriate fracture and injury presentations
  • Perform ultrasound-guided injections with confidence and precision
  • Manage simple pediatric orthopedic injuries appropriate for non-operative care
  • Develop and communicate appropriate treatment and follow-up plans
  • Coordinate referrals to orthopedic surgery or subspecialty care when indicated
  • Accurately document all patient encounters in the electronic medical record
  • Maintain current knowledge of orthopedic clinical standards and best practices
