About The Position

Midwest Orthopaedic Consultants is looking for a Full Time Surgical Scheduler /Medical Assistant for their Orland Park and Oak Lawn Location! Day in the Life This position will coordinate and support the goals and objectives of Midwest Orthopaedic Consultants while upholding exceptional Professionalism and providing excellent patient care. You will work under the supervision of the Physician assigned to perform duties in an office setting. Assist patients with the surgery scheduling process while providing excellent patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of healthcare insurance preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of computer and internet. Ability to learn other programs.
  • Previous experience with EHR and Allscripts PM programs.
  • Healthcare industry knowledge and surgery scheduling knowledge helpful.
  • At least 1 years' experience in Surgery Scheduling or Pre Authorization
  • Knowledge on basic office equipment such as telephone, fax and copier.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of CPT codes and ICD 10 codes.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients according to established protocol.
  • Fill our surgery sheets, pre-testing sheets and clearance sheets.
  • Provide patients with necessary paperwork for pre-testing & clearances.
  • Put scheduled surgery Modmed and other portals
  • Send all the necessary paperwork to appropriate departments.
  • Fax surgery paperwork to Surgery Centers/Hospitals.
  • Call PCP to inform of surgery.
  • Call insurance companies for benefits, eligibility & authorization.
  • Schedule patients for surgery via phone when patients call in and mail out patient paperwork.
  • Maintain doctor's surgery calendar.
  • Put surgery referrals in EPIC
  • Request Referrals from PCP office.
  • Request Pre-Determination from insurance companies if needed.
  • Travels between both locations Oak Lawn and Orland Park
