The R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to care for Orthopaedic Trauma patients. Working at the Shock Trauma Center, you become a vital part of a trauma team which cares for patients from admission through discharge. This position is 4 10-hour shifts, with rotating days. New Grads with Ortho experience encouraged to apply The NP/PA performs examination, evaluation, assessment and interpretation of clinical data to provide care to the patients with orthopaedic injuries. Professional practice is in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team. Our Department of Orthopaedics serves as a referral center for patients in Maryland and beyond. This position entails working some days where you will work solely on the floor, and other days that you will be in an ambulatory outpatient clinic. Summary Under general supervision, responsible for diagnosing and treating patients in collaboration with physician colleagues. Provide continuity of patient care by facilitating and coordinating communication between the health care team, patient and patient's family. Coordinate care to ensure quality, cost effective care; appropriate length of stay; and patient safety. Serves as link integrating relevant research and best practices.
