About The Position

The Orthopaedic Generalist Physician Assistant position provides autonomy with the ability to work in dual settings; outpatient and inpatient. This PA works in the outpatient environment handling general hand, foot, sports injuries and will also have the opportunity for some inpatient coverage. The PA interacts with and collaborates with physicians, other APPs, residents and fellows. This is a vital role as part of our team across the orthopaedic continuum. Additionally, they must be credentialed and privileged and follow the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and Policies of those facilities/locations. Examples include but are not limited to Langley Porter Psychiatric Hospital (LPPH), Marin Health, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, UCSF Health Saint Francis & St. Mary’s Hospitals and Clinics, Washington Hospital, and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG). The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $93.02 - $124.28 (Hourly Rate). Requirements

  • Five (5) years of experience in orthopedic specialties in an outpatient setting
  • Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
  • Five (5) years of physician assistant (PA) experience in orthopaedics within the past five years, including independent ambulatory patient care across all orthopaedic subspecialties.
  • Able to perform joint aspirations and injections
  • Able to interpret X-ray and MRI images of the shoulders, hips, knees, elbow, wrist, hand and spine
  • Active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA).
  • California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
  • Current national board certification by first day of work and maintain.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
  • Graduation from a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA (ARC-PA).
  • Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day.
  • Current AHA BLS.
  • Current AHA ACLS.
  • UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day.
  • Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
