About The Position

The Orthodontic Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting orthodontic procedures and patient care under the supervision of an Orthodontist. This position involves assisting with the placement and removal of orthodontic appliances, maintaining patient flow, and performing laboratory procedures. The assistant is also responsible for educating patients on orthodontic care and managing remote monitoring tasks.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to listen and understand information verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with patients and coworkers.
  • Ability to build rapport with patients.
  • Ability to set priorities regarding patient care, manage full schedules, and multi-task.
  • Ability to use hand tools.
  • Ability to work chair independently under the supervision of an Orthodontist.
  • Ability to perform all clinical duties and appointments self-sufficiently under the general supervision of an Orthodontist.
  • Dental Assistant certification if required by state Dental Board.
  • CPR certification if required by state Dental Board.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in placing and removing orthodontic appliances under the supervision of the Orthodontist.
  • Perform accurate and efficient procedures to maintain the schedule and patient flow.
  • Review patient charts, log appropriate patient data, and transcribe doctor notes.
  • Perform laboratory procedures under the supervision of an Orthodontist.
  • Assist the Point with performing final checks on patients and leading patient flow.
  • Administer the remote monitoring dashboard including review/triage patient scans, respond to direct patient messages, and triage notifications.
  • Educate patients on orthodontic care and remote monitoring.
  • Clean, sterilize, and prepare the equipment and operatory following standard protocols.
  • Assist in Local Store Marketing and community events.
  • Adhere to all infection-control policies and protocols.
