Requirements

  • Previous orthodontic or dental assisting experience preferred, but strong candidates willing to learn are encouraged.
  • Comfortable working with braces, aligners, and orthodontic tools.
  • Radiology/X-ray certification and CPR/BLS preferred or willingness to obtain (per state requirements).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, patient-centered clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the orthodontist chairside during patient appointments, including appliance placement, wire changes, and retainers.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials between patients.
  • Take orthodontic records such as digital scans and X-rays as requested (with appropriate certification).
  • Educate patients and parents on appliance care, oral hygiene, and clinical expectations.
  • Support infection control, sterilization, and OSHA safety protocols.
  • Update patient charts accurately within the practice management system.
  • Maintain clinical inventory and help keep operatories clean and organized.
  • Aid in enhancing patient comfort and overall experience at each visit.
