Responsible for providing care for patients including assessment, treatment, care planning and medical care evaluation by following standards and practices. Assists physicians, mid-levels and other staff in coordinating patient care.
Cares for and assists patients as appropriate, brings patient care issues to the providers attention.
Cleans and stocks exam rooms.
Obtains and documents a proper intake including but not limited to patient's history of present illness, health history, vital signs, and health risk factors.
Assesses condition via MORSE fall scale or Oswestry pain scale as appropriate.
Provides patient education materials, communicates physician advice/instructions to the patient.
Obtains patient consent for care/in office procedures.
Sets up and assists with office surgeries and procedures including but not limited to: injections, US injections, C-arm injections and fracture closed reductions, podiatric office procedures.
Works closely with provider, nurse and other staff to ensure quality patient care.
Fits patients with boots, braces and other DME items as ordered by the provider.
Cast and splint application and removal.
Dressing changes and applications, suture and staple removal.
Provides patient education specific for the item.
Prepares injections.
Obtains all lab, imaging, op note and office visits from outside facilities.
Places orders for physical therapy, imaging, lab work, etc. as ordered by the provider.
Ensures patient confidentiality.
Trains other ortho tech staff to ensure competency with rooming process, fitting and dispensement of DME, applying and removing casts.
Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA and Red Flag rules.
Adheres to infection control/safety guideline and confidentiality policies.
Improves processes/addressing issues with anything related to clinic processes and procedures.
Prepares instruments for sterilization.
Ensures autoclave is in proper working order.
Checks AED's weekly to ensure they are in good working order.
Orders/maintains/stocks supplies for clinic use.
Checks clean/dirty laundry status and ensures we have appropriate stock on hand.
Coordinates packaging and pick up of Biohazard waste for disposal.
Collects all used instruments and prepares for courier to transport to sterilization at CBMC/Disperses returned and sterilized items to clinic for use.
