About The Position

This job assists the orthopedic surgeon in the practice of medicine. This job is an extension of the orthopedic surgeon and assists in the care of sick and disabled persons. Responsible for being familiar with the clinical operations of a practice, specifically, casting application and removal. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental procedures and is able to perform certain basic nursing functions. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years experience as an Orthopedic Technician or one year related experience with completion of an Orthopedic Technician program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Self-directed including the ability to work with little supervision.
• Good judgment in handling difficult situations.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.
• Must be able to work a flexible work schedule.
• Demonstrates effective judgment, decision-making, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Clinic or operating room experience with knowledge of cast application and removal.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing technical support services and functions under the supervision of the RN.
• Assists with delivery of patient care by functioning as an effective member of the team.
• Maintains a clean, safe, environment in patient care areas.
• Provides specialized care and services to patients/customers in specific relation to their age and developmental stage.
• Ensures the flow and retrieval of information is timely and accurate.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.
