About The Position

The Chemical Production Operator at Ortec is responsible for ensuring personal safety, product quality, and production efficiency in the manufacturing of finished goods. This role involves operating production equipment, monitoring process conditions, and adhering to company policies to maintain safe and reliable operations. The operator will also be involved in batch manufacturing processes, including weighing and charging raw materials, and will play a key role in mentoring and training new personnel.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Experience operating a forklift
  • Basic computer and math knowledge
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent decision-making and troubleshooting skills

Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment and monitor process conditions and key performance metrics.
  • Batch manufacturing including weighing and charging raw materials to vessels and tanks.
  • Transfer products from vessels to storage tanks and other containers.
  • Follow company policies and procedures to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Read, record, and interpret data from instruments and equipment to adjust operations as needed.
  • Understand key process variables impacting product quality and troubleshoot them.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and assist in general cleanup of work areas.
  • Support Ortec's goals of zero workplace safety incidents and participate in EHS programs.
  • Mentor and train new and existing personnel on process operations.
  • Safely operate forklifts, lifts, and hand trucks.
