The ORS Technical Specialist position within the Office of Employment Administration is a critical role that involves planning, directing, and interpreting program laws related to unemployment insurance. This position is situated in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and is part of the Benefits Analysis Team. The specialist will be responsible for developing program objectives and evaluating operational performance procedures for the Office of Regulatory Services programs. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of both state and federal laws and regulations as they pertain to unemployment insurance programs. In this capacity, the ORS Technical Specialist will serve as a technical advisor, outlining training needs and developing new procedures to enhance existing practices. This includes conducting studies for Best Practices, Quality Control, and other special projects, as well as performing various collection activities related to unemployment insurance overpayments. The specialist will also be tasked with developing and implementing corrective action plans to address deficiencies identified through legislative audits. The position requires broad supervision from higher-level ORS jobs and involves programmatic supervision over ORS staff. The specialist will play a key role in ensuring compliance with program laws and will be instrumental in improving operational efficiencies within the agency. This position may be filled as either a Probational or a Job Appointment, and there is a possibility of conversion to a Probational Appointment should funding become available.
