About The Position

APT Research is hiring an Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) Orion Quality Assurance Specialist 2 on the KSC Safety and Mission Assurance Support Services (SMASS IV) contract at Kennedy Space Center, FL. This person will perform quality assurance direct Government Mandatory Inspection Points (GMIPs), oversight/ insight surveillances, and provide QAS support to EGS Orion Program in SA-F division. Responsibilities: Perform insight/oversight of processing for the Orion Program. This effort will be focused on processing critical flight hardware and Ground System Equipment (GSE). Work with a variety of systems such as mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic Perform Government Mandatory Inspection Points (GMIPs) and tracks associated nonconformances Identifies quality & safety issues and potential concerns that need to be documented and addressed Monitoring of contractor processing schedule to identify operations containing key processes that can be targeted for surveillance inspections and inline assessments Performs inspections, surveillance, and requirement compliance while overseeing fabrication, assembly, test, and checkout of aerospace flight hardware and GSE Performs acceptance of flight hardware/GSE, receiving inspections, and review of Acceptance Data Packs Required Experience/Education: Education: High School Diploma Experience: 4 years of Quality Assurance experience with complex systems Background in aerospace industry or military experience Familiarity with systems used on aerospace or aircraft vehicles Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be able to interact and develop excellent working relationships with various customers, peers, and management within and outside of KSC S&MA Organization Security Clearance Requirement: Must be able to qualify for an unescorted badge (US Citizen required) and be able to pass a background investigation & drug test.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 4 years of Quality Assurance experience with complex systems
  • Background in aerospace industry or military experience
  • Familiarity with systems used on aerospace or aircraft vehicles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to interact and develop excellent working relationships with various customers, peers, and management within and outside of KSC S&MA Organization
  • Must be able to qualify for an unescorted badge (US Citizen required) and be able to pass a background investigation & drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Quality background with experience overseeing operations associated with complex systems (i.e. mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, etc.)
  • Ability to read/ interpret drawings, requirements, specifications
  • Experience monitoring & evaluating contractor processing activities
  • Experience auditing Quality Management Systems (performing audits, compliance, and requirements assessments)
  • Technical experience with aerospace industry or military work experience with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other system utilized on aircraft or aerospace vehicles
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to work with electronic processing/data systems for the processing of flight hardware documentation
