Non-Destructive Test (NDT)/Quality Control (QC) inspector supporting the Orion manned space flight program in the Neil Armstrong Operations and Checkout Facility at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. The program is a fast-paced Manufacturing and Assembly, Test & Launch Operations (ATLO) environment. Inspectors will work with experienced Quality Engineering (QE) and NDT inspection teams collaborating with engineering and manufacturing support functions to ensure that product quality and acceptance requirements are met. This position primarily performs nondestructive evaluation providing results and defect analysis in coordination with other Orion ATLO operational and engineering groups. This position prefers inspectors with prior NAS410 Level 2 or 3 certifications in multiple methods. Inspector’s duties include comprehensive interpretation and application of technical procedures & working instructions providing written reports of acceptance/rejection/evaluation results of Orion Space Systems hardware to various engineering support groups. Inspectors also review and/or approve inspection records for adequacy and compliance to procedures and quality standards. All inspectors must be able to work effectively in a team environment or independently as required. Inspectors will be expected to support program inspections during off-shifts and on short notice to support ATLO program needs and schedules. Inspectors also investigate instances of nonconforming materials, facilitate the determination of root cause, corrective/preventative actions, and provide recommendation of disposition for Material Review Board (MRB) action.
