Job/Department Summary: Working independently, under the general direction of the Director of New Student Orientation and Transition Programs and (NSOT), incumbent performs moderately complex professional services work. This position assists with the design, planning, coordination and implementation of New Student Orientation and Transition Programs. Responsibilities include assisting with scheduling facilities, recruiting and training student staff, assisting in the development and delivery of presentations, and providing communication to student participants and guests. Incumbent will also facilitate workshops and training for student peer leaders as well as presentations to student and parent/guest orientation participants; assist with the training of student staff to support academic advising as part of the orientation program; incumbent will assist with collaboration with partner offices including academic departments, individual faculty advisors, student service offices, and enrollment management entities. This position requires the ability to develop familiarity with university programs, processes, policies and services and the ability to work independently without day-to-day supervision. This position assists with creating a welcoming introduction to the university and operates in a fast-paced, deadline driven, office with a high level of student and public contact.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field.
  • Three years of full-time professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth.
  • A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
  • Additional specialized experience which demonstrates the applicant has successfully applied the knowledge and abilities of a Student Services professional may also be substituted for required education on a year-for year basis.

Nice To Haves
