The position is part-time, non-exempt and is located at the Brookside location at 5144 Oak St, Kansas City, MO 64112. Please see below for a full job description Job Summary The Organist accompanies all Traditional Worship services, special worship services, and concerts. As a member of the Worship Team, serves with the Traditional Worship Leader – Central (Brookside Area) to engage everyone in attendance in a meaningful worship experience.
Requirements
- Minimum years of experience: 5 years preferred
- Proficiency in organ and piano. Playing a variety of styles of music (classical, contemporary Christian, gospel) in addition to traditional hymns and extended choral works. Able to perform as a soloist and accompanist.
Responsibilities
- Accompany all Traditional Worship services.
- Accompany weekly choral/orchestral rehearsals.
- Play for all special worship services such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Christmas Eve, and Easter.
- Play for all special events and concerts.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Follow Jesus and engage in the “five essential practices” of the Christian life: worship, study, serve, give, and share.
- Support the church’s purpose of “building a Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people become deeply committed Christians.”
- Exemplify the church’s values and support its theological direction as a United Methodist Church.
