Kelly Way Gardens is a farm-to-table program started from scratch, providing the Woodstock Inn & Resort with an on-site holistic food supply straight from the ground. We specialize in unique and heirloom varieties and provide culinary inspiration to our chefs and beauty to the Resort with over 200 varieties of vegetables, 50 varieties of herbs and edible flowers, 75 varieties of berries and orchard plantings, a mushroom glen, and 200 varieties of cut flowers.

Job Summary:

The Organic Gardener is responsible for assisting the Garden Manager in the execution of the Resorts Organic Market Garden while also focusing on interior plant maintenance and seasonal decorations for events, guests and public spaces.

Requirements

• Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
• Must have strong working knowledge of indoor plants, gardening (specifically vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers) utilizing organic gardening techniques.
• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift and carry 30+ pounds.
• Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Plant and maintain vegetable gardens to provide fresh produce to the Inn Restaurants.
• Plant and maintain the Resort cutting garden to focus on providing seasonal decorations to the Resort for use on restaurant tables, interior flower arrangements, banquet events, Gift Shop sales and seasonal decorations.
• Maintaining plants in the Spa, Front Lobby, Tavern area, Grand Staircase, the Red Rooster, Athletic Club, public restrooms and other spaces.
• Maintain additional stock of indoor plants for the Resort.
• Start seeds for Market Garden Plantings.
• Forcing bulbs and flowers for winter and spring arrangements.
• Giving tours to guests through the Resort’s Market Garden and its gardening philosophies.
• Assist with hosting Garden events and group activities.
• Planting and maintaining Resorts annual plantings of beds and containers.
