The Organ Placement Specialist 1 (OPS) coordinates the allocation of gifted organs to transplant centers, aiding in ensuring continuous patient safety assessment and improvement for donation and transplantation. The OPS may act as the primary liaison with the transplant centers, research facilitates, hospital personnel, and recovery site personnel in all Donor Service Area hospitals within the confines Broward, Dade, Collier, Monroe and Plam beach and St. Lucie counties and the commonwealth of the Bahamas (over 90 hospitals). The OPS is responsible for all activities related to the allocation and utilization of organs from donors. Including, organ allocation for transplant and research, OR timing, travel logistics, communication, and documentation.
