ORDERLY - STAFF SUPPORT
About The Position
The Orderly performs various duties and assists in the care of patients as assigned by the nursing Director, Patient Care Manager, Assistant Patient Care Manager, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Surgery Technician. The Orderly promotes public relations for the unit, nursing division, and the medical center. Must communicate effectively within the organization. Responsible for all behavior of the Orderly job description and duties as assigned. Projects a positive attitude to patients, staff, visitors, and students. Incumbents are subject to overtime and call-back as required by hospital.
Requirements
- Education Skills and proficiency in oral and written grammar, communication, and basic mathematics.
- Ability to perform support activities in patient care.
- Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures as acquired though on-the-job training.
- Knowledge of basic non-technical skills as acquired through on-the-job training.
- Mobility, sight, hearing, verbal communication, changes in temperature.
- Exposure to unpleasant elements (dust, fumes, odors, water, etc.) exposure to biological, mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Lifting up to 100 lbs.
- Carrying up to 40 lbs.
- Pushing/pulling up to 350 lbs.
