About the position

The Order Processing Representative at Simon & Schuster is responsible for managing and processing customer and intercompany purchase orders efficiently and accurately. This role involves determining shipping methods, obtaining necessary approvals, and troubleshooting stock issues in collaboration with the Supply Chain and warehouse teams. The representative must ensure timely processing of orders and communicate effectively with various departments to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Review, code, and make decisions related to customer and intercompany purchase orders.
  • Determine shipping methods and obtain release approvals.
  • Troubleshoot stock disposition with Supply Chain and the warehouse.
  • Process all manual customer and intercompany purchase orders received in multiple email boxes daily.
  • Ensure time-critical processing is completed according to customer arrival dates and communicate if requests cannot be met.
  • Communicate issues to management to assist in problem resolution.
  • Interact with Supply Chain, Publicity, Marketing, Customer Service, and Customer Financial Services to meet customer requests.
  • Communicate with the warehouse to pull and triage special title printings based on requests from the New York office.
  • Review laydown and embargo title listings to ensure titles are not released early without Publisher approval.
  • Handle claim processing and publicity responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED; college preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong PC skills, including Uops, CSI, Stock Allocation, and Inventory Management systems.
  • Ability to analyze day-to-day processes and suggest improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for dealing with employees and management.
  • Good independent judgment and organizational skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret objectives and coordinate daily tasks.
  • Facilitate problem-solving with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
