About The Position

York Space Systems is seeking a Orbit Analyst to join our team and support various mission-level analyses across engineering disciplines during design, launch, and on-orbit phases.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, computer science, or related technical field from accredited university is a minimum requirement.
  • Understanding of spacecraft subsystems, orbit dynamics, and their relation to each other
  • Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as STK, GMAT, or equivalent
  • Experience with Python software development
  • Jira software project management or equivalent
  • Understanding of Orbit determination theory
  • Git version control, or an equivalent version control system
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership qualities and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new software and technical subjects
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • Currently have active security clearance
  • Experience with NASA ORDEM, NASA BUMPER, NASA DAS, NASA MEM3
  • Experience analyzing spacecraft dynamics, control theory, and propulsion performance as they relate to trajectory design and constellation geometry
  • Familiarity with conjunction assessment approaches and collision avoidance workflows

Responsibilities

  • Perform and support various mission and system level analyses ensuring space vehicle designs meet or exceed requirements across subsystems
  • Provide engineering support in the development of mission architectures
  • Support development of mission concept of operations
  • Support, create and maintain mission specific documentation
  • Support system level day in the life analyses for a wide variety of different missions
  • Identify or create or use available tools to model and analyze a given systems performance and capability in relation to mission objectives
  • Support mission operations team during planning and execution phases
  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines and the associated leads to ensure design closure
  • Design and analyze constellation architectures, including orbital regimes, plane spacing, phasing strategies, and deployment concepts
  • Perform trade studies for various mission designs to meet contact coverage, lifetime, regulatory requirements, and validate mission feasibility
  • Develop and validate flight dynamics software partnering with mission operation, spacecraft subsystems, and software engineering teams to support mission design, on orbit operations, and contract phases
