About The Position

Mountainside Medical Center, in partnership with the Mountainside Medical Group, is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon to join our team in a part-time academic and clinical role. This position replaces a long-standing faculty member and is ideal for a well-trained surgeon passionate about both clinical care and resident education. Position Highlights Location: 1 Bay Avenue, Montclair, NJ Schedule: 20–30 hours/month Setting: Combination of inpatient and outpatient (primarily clinic-based) Practice Environment: General dentistry residency clinic with 5 residents, supported by rotating OMS residents from a partnering program Teaching: Required — includes both didactic and clinical supervision Call: Limited; second call only (dental residents take first call); no in-house requirement Weekend Requirement: None EMR: Epic Scope of Practice Be part of a residency-affiliated program with a supportive, collaborative culture Full range of office-based OMS procedures (no general anesthesia; local and nitrous only) 2 full clinic days/month supervising residents Management of dentoalveolar surgery, minor oral pathology, and consults No maxillofacial trauma or significant infections — these are referred out Practice in a well-equipped clinic with X-ray, CBCT, and procedure rooms on-site Faculty appointment with the OMS residency program at St. Joseph’s, as Mountainside is a formal rotation site

Requirements

  • DDS or DMD with completion of an accredited Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency
  • NJ Specialty Licensure in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
  • BLS and ACLS certified
  • Strong proficiency in dentoalveolar procedures
  • Board Certified or Eligible (ABOMS)
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in teaching and clinical instruction
  • A commitment to a hybrid career that combines patient care with academic involvement
