About The Position

The University of Chicago is seeking a highly experienced Oracle Fusion ERP Security and Workflow Lead with a strong technical background to join its ITS team. This senior role will lead the design, implementation, configuration, and ongoing support of Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, with deep hands-on ownership of BPM/workflows, security architecture, and underlying data structures. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience delivering complex ERP solutions in large enterprise environments, collaborating with cross- functional stakeholders, and establishing best practices for security, approvals, and governance. This role requires a balance of technical depth, functional understanding, and leadership to support both internal teams and business partners.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in information technology, computer science, business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive ERP experience, including at least 7 years of hands-on experience with Oracle ERP, with a strong emphasis on Oracle Fusion Cloud applications.
  • Demonstrated expertise across both technical and functional domains of Oracle Fusion ERP, including Financials, Procurement, Supply Chain, and related modules.
  • Background with Oracle Fusion data architecture, integrations (REST/SOAP APIs, Oracle Integration Cloud), and security role design and governance.
  • Proven leadership experience leading cross-functional teams, delivering complex ERP implementations, and supporting enterprise-scale environments.
  • Background in higher education or nonprofit environments.
  • Oracle Cloud Certification, functional and/or technical.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), FBDI/ADFDI, and other Oracle tools.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, financial controls, and audit processes impacting ERP systems.
  • Track record of delivering successful ERP projects in a lead or architect role.
  • Communication and leadership skills; able to empower, mentor, and inspire.
  • Manage competing priorities and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex solutions on time and within budget.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with IT and cross-departmental business leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the end-to-end design, configuration, integration, and support of Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, with a strong focus on security and workflow architecture.
  • Serves as the primary technical authority and subject matter expert for Oracle Fusion ERP across security, BPM/workflows, and core ERP modules.
  • Partners with business process owners to translate requirements into secure, scalable system designs and process improvements.
  • Designs, configures, and supports approval workflows, roles, data security policies, and related controls across Oracle Fusion modules.
  • Provides architectural guidance on configuration, extensions, and integrations to ensure alignment with University standards and Oracle best practices.
  • Establishes and enforces governance standards for security, compliance, data privacy, and change management.
  • Facilitates design workshops, leads gap analyses, and recommends solutions that support evolving campus needs.
  • Troubleshoots complex security, workflow, and system issues, including support for upgrades and quarterly releases.
  • Monitors system health and drives continuous improvement across ERP processes and controls.
  • Collaborates with Oracle Support and implementation partners to manage service requests and escalations.
  • Mentors internal teams and stakeholders on Oracle Fusion security, workflow, and ERP best practices.
  • Leads or coordinates teams or projects for activities relating to software support and/or development.
  • Utilizes expertise and a thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements to translate business and user needs into system requirement specifications.
  • Communicates and presents on system enhancements and/or alternatives to colleagues in IT management.
  • Performs other related work as needed.
