Nationwide IT Services, NIS, is seeking an Oracle Database Architect/DBA for a potential opportunity. In this position, the Architect/DBA will: Design a redundant, normalized, high-performance Oracle database architecture. Apply patches, provision backups, and optimize performance across various datasets. Analyze AWR (Automatic Workload Repository) reports, wait events, and execution plans to rewrite inefficient PL/SQL and optimize indexes. Review and approve schema changes proposed by software developers to ensure changes won't cripple the database production environment. Forecast storage and compute needs for the next fiscal year based on growth trends. Apply DISA STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides) to the database layer. This involves locking down permissions, enabling auditing, and encrypting data at rest and in transit. Implement "Least Privilege" models, often integrating with Smart Card (CAC/PIV) authentication for DB access. Lead initiative of transferring large datasets from on-prem to AWS Cloud via AWS Database Migration Service and AWS Glue. Script infrastructure provisioning using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible to create reproducible database environments. Primary Objectives: Assist in the Discovery Phase activities of gathering user requirements, business analysis, legacy system analysis, Epic/Story creation, external data integration planning, and product backlog management.
