Oracle Database Administrator/Engineer

About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oracle Database Administrator to join our dynamic team at SS&C Technologies, Inc. This role involves ensuring the optimal performance, security, and availability of our critical Oracle database systems, supporting various business applications and data infrastructure.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
8+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle Database Administrator in a production environment.
Proficiency with Oracle Database versions 19c, 21c and higher, including CDB/PDB .
Strong experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Data Guard.
Expertise in RMAN for backup and recovery operations.
Solid understanding of SQL, PL/SQL, and performance tuning methodologies.
Experience with Linux/UNIX operating systems, including shell scripting.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, upgrade, and patch Oracle database software and related products (e.g., Grid Infrastructure, RMAN, RAC, ASM, Data Guard, TDE…).
Create and manage Oracle's multitenant architecture, CDB (Container Database) and PDBs (Pluggable Databases).
Perform database performance tuning, including SQL query optimization, instance tuning, and capacity planning.
Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies using RMAN, Data Guard, and other relevant tools.
Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents in a timely manner.
Manage database security, including user access, roles, privileges, and auditing.
Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine database administration tasks.
Collaborate with application development teams to support database design, development, and deployment activities.
Participate in on-call rotation for production support and provide technical expertise during critical situations.
A bility to resolve Oracle related issues during direct calls/Teams meetings with client personnel.
Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Stay up-to-date with new Oracle technologies and industry trends.
