About The Position

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the OR Staff Radiographer is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographs, assisting surgeons and assisting in the administration of contrast media related to particular diagnostic procedures. The OR Staff Radiographer needs to be competent in all radiology procedures. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

Requirements

  • ARRT registered or registry eligible (equal to two years post high school) and licensed by the State of Ohio.
  • BLS required upon hire.
  • Interpersonal and basic clerical skills and ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Performs radiographic exams with extensive knowledge in neurology, urology, general orthopedics, and all other surgery procedures.
  • Adjusts equipment controls (KV, MAS, patient orientation) to set exposure factors and procedures images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Performs radiographic exams utilizing scope of practice for medical imaging as defined by ARRT and ASRT and in compliance with Ohio Department of Health rules.
  • Administers contrast media related to particular diagnostic procedures.
  • Assures patient safety by practicing radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to the patient and the operating room staff.
  • Provides patient transportation.
  • Moves imaging equipment safely into specified position.
  • Assists with the positioning of the patient before and during procedure.
  • Assures patient documentation and patient care will documenting Flouro time and procedure time on requisition and maintains patient information log.
  • Process images on the C-arm/O-arm for proper identification and quality control. This allows for images to be available for the radiologist to dictate or for the requesting physician to view.
  • Performs clerical duties.
  • Participates in the educational process of the students of the School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Trains and supervises students in the surgery department.
  • Performs other related duties.
  • 75% attendance at department meetings.
  • Assists in preparation of administration of contrast media and medications related to particular diagnostic procedures.
  • Assures quality patient care.
  • Takes call.
  • Has flexibility to adjust schedule to accommodate the needs of the OR department.
  • Able to work in a high intensity, challenging work environment.
  • Adheres to the OR sterile procedures and properly clean x-ray equipment leaving and entering the room.
  • Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
