Description: Job Summary Provide professional nursing care for assigned patients according to established standards and practices. Follow practices established by AORN and recommended practices. Manages all aspects of surgical specialty team; serves as first line resource for staff and Physicians related to specific team specialty (ies). Completes staff schedules and performance appraisals. Qualifications Associate's Degree in Nursing Required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred Work Experience 1 or more years Experience in operating room as circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse Required Licenses and Certifications RN - Registered Nurse with current Georgia license Required and BCLS - Basic Life Support AHA Required CNOR - Certified Operating Room Nurse Preferred Essential Functions First line personnel management including interviewing, performance appraisal, disciplinary action/work improvement, coaching performance and mentoring career growth. Serves as liaison between specialty and OR staff, physicians, vendors. Interacts with vendors and physicians to ensure patient needs related to specialty team are met. Provides equal and quality service to all physicians within the specialties of the team. Provides education for staff related to specialty team procedures/equipment/supplies. Knowledge of variety of equipment in OR setting. Expert in use of specialty team equipment. Provides clinical resource for physicians and staff. Is a resource for JCAHO and other regulatory requirement compliance. Participates in the budgeting process. Shares responsibility for cost effectiveness of specialty. Active participation in leadership activities and meetings within the department and hospital. Makes staff assignments for specialty team procedures. Responsible for accuracy of physician preference cards. Knowledge of variety of equipment in OR setting. Expert in use of specialty team equipment.
