This downtown Stuart hospital provides top-quality patient care to the communities in and around Martin County on the beautiful St. Lucie River. The caregivers at Martin North Hospital have made it not only an excellent medical facility, but also a home away from home. Martin North Hospital has an 8-suite Operating Room (OR) department that sees a large variety of surgical cases, including general, thoracic, robotics and cardiovascular. By joining the OR Team as an OR Service Assistant II, you will assist in transporting patients and setting up operating rooms as well as maintaining and operating special equipment. This opportunity will allow you to be a part of a high-performing surgical team and have exposure to a critical care environment. A caregiver in this position works days from 11:00AM - 7:00PM.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Understanding of surgical workflows, surgical terminology and physician preferences
  • Requires full range of body motion to include handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds ad ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Sterile processing certification or Operating Room Technician (ORT) certification

Responsibilities

  • Assist in transporting patients, room turnover and setting up the Operating Room.
  • Maintain and operate special equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment and supplies for service-specific surgical cases.
  • Monitor and track the loaning/lending of supplies and equipment and ensure the availability and functionality of equipment and supplies for their services.
  • Scrub in and provide limited assistance to surgeons, such as holding limbs, holding retractors, suctioning and sponging wounds.
  • Maintain surgical instrument sets and equipment and ensure proper sterile conditions.
  • Clean used instruments after surgery.
  • Maintain surgical sterility throughout procedures.
