Operating Room Overview Our state-of-the-art Operating Room handles over 10,000 surgical cases per year, ranging from trauma and neurosurgery to orthopedics, robotics, general surgery, and open-heart procedures. With 17 modern OR suites and dedicated support teams, we provide high-acuity, high-complexity care while fostering continuous learning and professional growth. Position Summary As an OR RN at GW Hospital, you will deliver direct patient care during surgical procedures, ensuring a safe, sterile, and efficient environment. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary surgical team to provide outstanding care and uphold the highest standards of patient safety.

Requirements

  • Current DC RN license (or eligible for DC licensure)
  • BLS and ACLS (must be AHA-certified)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the Operating Room or Perioperative setting

Nice To Haves

  • CNOR certification
  • Experience in trauma or high-acuity surgical environments
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

  • Circulate or scrub for surgical procedures across multiple specialties
  • Perform pre-op assessments and intra-op monitoring
  • Maintain aseptic techniques and enforce infection control policies
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs
  • Document patient status and surgical events accurately and in real-time
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families pre- and post-procedure
  • Participate in staff training and continuous improvement initiatives
