The Registered Nurse Circulator assumes responsibility and accountability for patients in the Operating Room during surgical procedures. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and accurately documenting nursing care for patients undergoing surgery. The Registered Nurse will provide age-specific care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations in surgery. Additionally, the nurse coordinates all aspects of nursing care with all disciplines of the surgical team to achieve defined patient outcomes, ensuring a safe environment for patients in surgery. The Registered Nurse must also provide appropriate education to patients and families regarding the surgical procedure and display excellent customer service skills when interacting with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians. This position requires practicing within the guidelines of the Louisiana State Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act and AORN guidelines, as well as complying with the policies and procedures set forth by the Surgical Specialty Center of Baton Rouge and all applicable regulatory bodies.
