About The Position

The University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a skilled and dependable OR Radiology Technologist in the Radiology Department, with a strong focus on operating room imaging. This role involves providing intraoperative radiographic support, maintaining sterile technique, and working closely with surgical teams to ensure timely and accurate imaging. New graduates are welcome to apply, with additional training provided for those eager to learn and grow in the OR setting. The position's primary home base is the OR, with an expectation to assist in Adult General Radiology as needed. This is a 100% onsite opportunity in Hyde Park, requiring the candidate to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. As a Radiology Technologist, the individual will perform diagnostic imaging studies, utilize appropriate radiation protection principles, exercise professional judgment in imaging procedures, and provide patient care. Requirements

Associates degree in a related medical field of study or equivalent experience
Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA approved program
Certified by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists within one year of date of hire.
Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
Demonstrates proficiency in performing diagnostic imaging
Functions proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality
Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Good decision-making and judgment skills
Maintain required continuing education as mandated by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists
Strong verbal, written and analytical skills.
Considerable knowledge of standard office practices and procedures along with knowledge of computers and software programs specific to the UCMC and the radiology department
CPR certification

Responsibilities

Reviews physician's order to assure appropriateness of examination being requested.
Selects appropriate exposure factors based on body part, pathology, patient's age and technical equipment characteristics.
Reviews images for proper positioning, technique and identification.
Performs a variety of general diagnostic studies with efficiency and high standards of quality, assures that the proper protocol is used for any given examination and evaluates images for diagnostic quality prior to submitting for interpretation.
Prepares contrast media for administration to patients and assists physician in the performance of GI/GU studies.

Maintains physical work environment to be in compliance with regulatory certifying agencies. Adheres to all infection control regulations. Recognizes report and document malfunctions of technical equipment.
Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the online picture archive and the radiology information system by the consistent and accurate input of data into the system. Follow established workflows for workgroup. Assist in training new technologists and students. Will perform other duties as assigned.
Rotating on-call responsibilities, weekends and holiday work is required.
