Job Title: OR Nurse Manager Reports To: Chief Nursing Officer Classification: Exempt Job Summary: The OR Nurse Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for all surgical services, including the Operating Room, Surgical Technicians, and Sterile Processing. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care through effective team management, adherence to regulatory standards, and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative staff. The OR Nurse Manager serves as a role model for professional nursing practice, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence.

Requirements

  • RN required, BSN preferred.
  • Current RN (Registered Nurse) licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of perioperative nursing experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and standards of care.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of the Operating Room, Surgical Technicians, and Sterile Processing departments to ensure safe and efficient surgical services.
  • Supervises, evaluates, and supports staff performance, including RNs, Surgical Technicians, and Sterile Processing employees.
  • Develops staffing plans and schedules to meet patient care needs and optimize efficiency.
  • Collaborates with physicians, anesthesia providers, and other clinical leaders to coordinate patient flow and resolve operational challenges.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Oversees staff education, competency validation, and professional development.
  • Leads quality and safety initiatives within Surgical Services, including performance improvement projects, infection prevention measures, and supply chain optimization.
  • Maintains oversight of sterile processing operations to ensure compliance with sterilization protocols and instrument tracking systems.
  • Assists in developing and managing departmental budgets, monitoring resource utilization, and identifying opportunities for cost-effective care.
  • Promotes a positive and collaborative work environment consistent with the organization’s mission, values, and culture.
