About The Position

The OR Manager Nursing Manager provides leadership and management to all nursing, personnel and ancillary personnel within an assigned area or units in a clinical setting. The OR Nursing Manager manages all clinical functions and operations of the assigned area or units to include quality management, personnel management, fiscal management, and improvement processes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred.
  • Current nursing license, in good standing with the State licensing board.
  • CNOR certification preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ total clinical experience; with two years in nursing administration/OR Management; computer skills.
  • Experience in outpatient healthcare operations or similar service environments preferred.
  • Current and active CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and achieves goals that are in alignment with the company’s goals and mission. Develops and implements processes to enhance clinic operations and practices for ongoing quality improvement. Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities to enhance the delivery of clinical care.
  • Ensures that personnel demonstrate quality standards of customer satisfaction and patient care. Assures compliance with productivity standards for assigned area/units. Serves on a nursing council, hospital, or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care.
  • Identifies clinical operational needs; manages appropriate level of equipment and supplies and monitors equipment maintenance. Assesses the environment and make recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety, and compliance with various regulatory bodies such as OSHA, JCAHO and clinical policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates in the development, implementation and expansion of learning opportunities and skill development for all staff. Analyzes, develops, and maintains an effective and efficient nursing care delivery system that reflects patient and family needs across the continuum to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Participates in planning, preparing, and prioritizing of budgets for assigned areas of responsibility. Monitor compliance investigates variances and provides plans for remediation.
  • Manages employees, schedules, time and attendance and performance management.
  • Management of airways including endotracheal tubes, nasal airways, oral airways, and bag valve mask.
  • Assessing and maintaining sterile technique, positioning, specimen collection.
  • Multidisciplinary communication to ensure safe, developmentally appropriate care.
  • Provide communication and education to families to ensure involvement and understanding in their care.
  • Partner with surgeons and anesthesia to support measurement-based care and coordination of care within Perioperative Services.
  • Guide data driven care through the oversite of data utilization and clinical application of outcome measures.
  • Manage staffing, quality, research, productivity, and budget for respective areas.
  • Evaluate and enhance efficiency in processes.
  • Set clear goals and expectations; provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
  • Develop talent through mentoring, training, and career development initiatives.
  • Promote a collaborative and engaging work environment that aligns with company values.
  • Manage conflict and make timely decisions to maintain team focus and performance.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and development conversations.
  • Approve timecards, schedules, time-off requests, and other administrative HR functions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and safety regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Manage the nursing care for all patients in the OR Department during your shift.
  • Delegate the shift’s tasks to all the nurses in the unit and coordinate with physicians
  • Recognize changes in patients’ condition and respond appropriately.
  • Supervise CNAs as they complete their assigned tasks and point out any changes or improvements that need to be made.
  • Supervise CST Staff.
  • Detect any issues that could result in injuries or other difficulties for patients or staff members.
  • Ensure physicians are informed of any changes in patients’ progress, condition, or medicinal needs.
  • Assist Direct of Surgical Services as needed with Collecting data for monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Education of staff as needed with guidance from the Director of Surgical Services.
  • Completes required orientation as directed by facility.
  • Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment.
  • Follows facility Occurrence Reporting Process.
  • Respects cultural and religious practices of patients.
  • Upholds HIPAA regulations.
  • Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts.
